We offer training for every level. Whether you are a full-time teacher, parent, or educator looking to tutor, we offer a course to meet your needs.

Each class is capped at 25 people, so everyone can get the individual attention they need.  

All trainings are virtual unless otherwise noted.

Interested in Dii training at your school? We offer personalized training for a group as small as 10 people.

50-Hour Orton-Gillingham Reading Specialist Package
(Approved Training Program with the IDOE Consisting of both the 40-Hour Basic Class and 10-Hour Practicum)

This course format is a combination of videos with self-guided learning and mandatory digital classroom meetings.

Dii’s package is an approved training program through the Indiana Department of Education. This package includes the 40-Hour Basic Orton Gillingham Class along with the 10-Hour Practicum. Students will need to complete the 40-Hour Class and the 10-Hour Practicum to fulfill the IDOE requirements. 50 PGP’s will be awarded for successful completion of this package. If you have already completed the 40-Hour Basic Orton Gillingham Class you may be eligible to just complete the 10-hour practicum to fulfill your requirement. Develop an understanding of language learning disabilities and learn how to effectively use the Orton Gillingham Multi-sensory Instructional Approach.

Master the sound-symbol relationships of the English language and gain an in-depth understanding of the etymology and lexicon associated with English. Learn the essential elements of a successful multi-sensory instruction approach, how to administer and interpret diagnostic assessments in preparing individualized lesson plans, and all the necessary knowledge to prepare Orton Gillingham lessons.

Please note, this is a rigorous course, equivalent to a graduate level course in content and expectation. If you have any questions about this, please give us a call.

Science of Reading - September 18, 2023, 6:00pm to 7:30pm
Join us to learn more about what the science of reading is, and why it is important in a classroom setting.

Phonics Instruction - November 20, 2023, 6:00pm to 7:30pm
This workshop will provide concrete best practices to address phonics instruction.

Multisensory Instruction - February 26, 2024, 6:00pm to 7:30pm
During this workshop, you will have the chance to learn more about how to use multisensory instruction across subjects other than reading and language arts.

Reading Fluency - April 15, 2024, 6:00pm to 7:30pm
Reading Fluency in the classroom is an opportunity to learn more about the importance of reading fluency with strategies to improve reading fluency among students.

10-Hour Practicum

This optional practicum can be completed after finishing the 40-hour Basic Orton-Gillingham Course

The goal of the practicum is to provide guided practice of the skills used in Orton-Gillingham.  Participants will need to secure a student to work with for 7 one hour sessions.  Apply your new Basic Orton-Gillingham skills by directly working one-on-one with your student.  A practicum supervisor will observe you or a video of your session and provide immediate feedback.  You will prepare and administer the Gallistel-Ellis assessment to your student on day one and then you will receive guidance for determining a plan of action for 6 more lessons with your student.  Before teaching each lesson, you will submit your lesson plan to your practicum supervisor for approval who will make suggestions for changes.    10 PGP’s can be awarded for successful completion of the practicum.

20-Hour Multisensory Techniques for the Classroom and Small Group Instructor

This interactive workshop will walk participants through how to apply the foundation of Orton-Gillingham multisensory techniques for all students learning to read in the classroom and small group setting. Students will leave this course with an understanding of how to write a lesson plan for the class, ways to engage groups of students in instruction, and ideas about how to tackle language challenges related to teaching reading.

Advanced I - Intermediate: Transitioning Your Student to Advanced Orton-Gillingham

Saturdays, March 2 and 9, 2024
9am to 1pm

This course focuses on how to transition a student from Basic Orton-Gillingham into Morphology (roots, prefixes, suffixes and connectives). Review the upper layers of Basic Orton-Gillingham and learn how to introduce morphology to your student by adjusting drills to be more appropriate for an upper-level student.

Advanced II - Morphology

Saturdays, April 13 and 20, 2024
9am to 1pm

This course focuses on advanced assessments for higher-level skills and learning how to use a student’s knowledge of morphology to determine meaning and spelling of higher-level words.  Learn how to teach prefixes, suffixes, roots and connectives. You must have already completed Advanced I to take this course.

20-Hour Multi-sensory Math Methods

Next course schedule to be determined.

Learn the essential elements of a multi-sensory mathematics teaching approach. Learn to guide student development from the concrete on to pictorial representations of numbers and operations, and eventually to success using abstract symbols of math. (No prerequisite required.)

This course is virtual! Participants will meet via Zoom for each of the meeting dates mentioned above. In between meetings, there will be video modules with a brief homework assignment due before the next meeting. The video modules are approximately 3 hours each. The first module and homework assignment are to be viewed and completed before the first class meeting.

Course Fee: $650

This course is being offered via Zoom! Registrants will receive a link to video prior to the course.

Learn techniques to teach grammar using a multi-sensory approach and how to use that knowledge to construct complete sentences and paragraphs. Participants will have the opportunity to practice teaching techniques with each other in class. Participants will learn how to teach students how to identify and write a complete sentence.

Educators will learn how to teach students about the structure of a paragraph and use this knowledge to teach multiparagraph essays.  This class assumes the student has mastered knowledge about parts of speech and writing complete sentences.

Basic Orton-Gillingham Refresher

Tuesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 9, 2024
6pm to 9pm

Are you an educator trained in Orton-Gillingham and in need of a quick refresher? Join us for this course to review the foundation of Orton-Gillingham. We will review the skills taught in Basic OG and provide additional opportunities for practice.

Phonological Awareness

Monday, March 4 and Monday, March 11, 2023
6:30pm to 7:30pm

Participants will watch a series of instructional videos and attend two one-hour zoom sessions. The first set of instructional videos will be sent one week prior to the first zoom session and will need to be completed before that zoom session.

Phonological Awareness is important for students who are learning to read and spell.  If the phonological skills are weak, the student may struggle with phonics, which is connecting sound to symbol.  In this training, you will learn multisensory strategies for teaching the skills that are necessary to give students a strong phonological foundation.

TRAINING CANCELLATION POLICY: A $50 cancellation fee will apply to any registration cancellation. For training registration cancellations within 60 days of a course beginning, a $100 cancellation fee will be applied. Once a training course has started, registration may not be cancelled for a partial refund.

Custom and school-based trainings are nonrefundable. Dii requires 45 days advance notice to reschedule a custom or school-based training.
