“I work at DII because I believe we have the ability to change lives in a very powerful way. Fulfilling DII’s mission helps so many individuals build the confidence to fulfill their dreams. Celebrating the success with children and their families who now experience the gift of literacy makes me know that my hard work makes a difference. That is very rewarding!”

“I am part of the DII family because I remember what it felt like to be a parent of a child who struggled with reading but could not find an effective way to help her. It was such a blessing to find DII and finally find the appropriate approach needed for her to learn to read. It is such a joy to work with families and see the changes that occur as the students become more confident and realize they can succeed. “

“I truly love the camp experience. The campers show up on the first day, full of fear, insecurities, and doubt. By the last week, they have come out of their shells and will try anything and everything, they have made new friends, and they have a new and improved attitude about themselves and dyslexia. It’s an incredible transformation; I feel very fortunate to be a part of the process.”

“As a parent of a child with dyslexia I truly understand the fear of the unknown “something” that is holding your child back. DII provided a way for our family when no one else seemed to have the answer. Becoming a tutor myself has been so rewarding. I feel honored to be part of another family’s answer. I love talking to parents and helping them find the path to their child’s success.”

“I thoroughly enjoy working at DII because of the opportunity to work with dedicated professionals who truly want to make a difference in the lives of the students they teach. Every training I do, I have the opportunity to learn something from those in my class.
I also deeply believe in DII’s mission of helping all people meet their potential; what a joy to be part of helping others become the best they can be! Tutoring our wonderful students allows me to be part of this on a weekly basis.”

“I enjoy using my expertise for non-profits, and especially small business. To me, nothing is more satisfying than seeing a small company grow. I am happy to be part of the DII team as we take DII to the next level.”

“The reason I work for DII is because it is a place very close to my heart. I was a camper at Camp Delafield in 1993 and 1994 – those summers were nothing like I had had in the past. It wasn’t summer school!! When it came time to do an internship to graduate from college, the only place that felt right to do my internship was the place that had helped me be successful in school 11 years earlier: Camp Delafield and DII. In 2010, I started to work for DII, and I love that I get to now be a tutor and help students that are just like me when I was their age. I enjoy talking to parents and families every day about ways they can help their children and students, just like my parents did for me. However, my favorite part of the year is when I go out to the Camp Delafield picnic and see all the campers, and witness the friendships they have made over the summer…knowing that was me so many summers before.”

“I get great satisfaction from working for an organization that does really important work in the community. In addition, it affords me the opportunity to utilize my unique skill set, developed in the for profit world, and applying those principles to an exciting non-profit endeavor.”
